On Monday, May 19, 2014, UP 7400, the Pink Ribbon special  locomotive. was the dpu of a stack train and was expected to arrive in Little Rock around sunset. It got here shortly after 9 p.m. and since the Amtrak platform lights were not on yet, I only had a couple of regular streetlights as lighting, so the pictures of 7400 and a couple of other trains turned out dark and grainy, but at least I made the attempt. Shortly after UP 7400 passed, the platform lights came on, and you'll see the difference in the photos. I used my Sony Alpha77 for these pictures tonight because it has a quick way of changing the sensitivity (ISO) settings. I used ISO 16,000 for most photos.  I also played around with special effects on a couple of shots. There were four other railfans at the station tonight. Even though it was only 2 hours away, I decided to go home instead of waiting for the northbound Texas Eagle 22, which was on time tonight.

Locomotives seen tonight:  UP 4491, 9600, 7400, 5034, 8683 *** BNSF 8969, 4426 *** CN 2183. Also, KRL 300363-12axle heavy hauler, unripe blackberries, a nice sunset.

Southbound at 7:52 p.m.

UP 4491.

Added some blues and greens to UP 9600 and its train.

SP 466488 hopper.

RMGX 9014 gondola.

KRL 300363 12-axle heavy hauler.

Blackberries beginning to ripen. Not many blackberries here this year, so far.

Looks like a red ruby.

End of train and red signals at 8:04 p.m.

Into the twilight.

8:06 p.m.

Sunset from Union Station at 8:19 p.m.

I enhance the reds.

Train  heading north at 8:41 p.m.

8:42 p.m. Couldn't read the engine numbers. The few regular streetlights are just not enough to get clear shots at night, but you'll see later what a difference the Amtrak platform lights will make. They don't come on until an hour or so before the Amtrak agent arrives to open the station for the northbound Texas Eagle, due at 11:31 p.m. Tonight it was on time but I didn't wait on it.

8:44 p.m.

Here are the 4 other railfans.

An enhanced view of railfans...lol.

8:52 p.m. and another northbound approaches.

BNSF 8969 (I think) leading an empty coil train.

BNSF 4426.

Empty coil cars.

UP 8345 (I think), 9:05 p.m. This is the stack train that has UP 7400 as the rear DPU.

This is UP 7400.

UP 7400, rear facing DPU. The pink ribbon is in the center of the locomotive.

CN 2183, 9:17 p.m.

The Amtrak platform lights came on at 9:21 p.m. and you can see the difference in clarity, brightness and graininess with tank car TILX 199937.

UP 94651 hopper.

A southbound at 9:39 p.m.

UP 5034, 9:39 p.m. Wish I had this lighting with 7400.

UP 8683.
